Low Risk Takedowns

The Problem:

Most Jiu-Jitsu athletes know they need takedowns.

Very few feel comfortable taking the risk.

They shoot from too far away, then get sprawled on.
They commit underneath their opponent, then expose their neck.
They avoid wrestling altogether because they don’t want to get trapped in a scramble.

The problem is not a lack of takedown options.

The problem is believing every takedown has to begin with a traditional shot.

Most instruction teaches athletes to drop underneath their opponent and attack the legs. While these techniques can work, they often require speed, timing, and a level of commitment that many Jiu-Jitsu athletes are uncomfortable making.

Instead of controlling the standing position, they take one desperate shot and hope it works.

A great low-risk takedown is not one technique. It is a connected system of underhooks, Russian ties, snap-downs, knee picks, body locks, and snag singles that keeps you upright, protected, and in control until the match reaches the ground.

What's the Solution

Low Risk Takedowns

The Solution: A Complete Shotless Takedown System

This series teaches you how to build a complete takedown system for Jiu-Jitsu without relying on traditional shots.

You’ll learn how to attack the snag single from the Touch and Go, underhook, Russian tie, and blast double, then finish with Run the Pipe, the punch-and-trip, or the Barzegar.

You’ll add knee picks using direct attacks, misdirection, underhook fakes, and Russian ties. From the underhook, you’ll learn single-leg transitions, throw-bys, snap go-behinds, pinch headlocks, body locks, and thigh blocks.

Instead of forcing one attack, you’ll learn how each position creates multiple takedown options.

When you reach the leg, you have multiple finishes.

When they defend directly, you use misdirection.

When the single leg isn’t available, you attack the knee pick.

When they close the distance, you use the underhook.

They don’t stop your takedown.

They give you the next attack.
